Is it a stupid question to ask if there is a free antivirus service available or where I could obtain avast code?
Thank you for any help!
I'm my personal experience (i work at a computer repair shop) the best anti virus application is AVG Free which as the name suggests is completely free. I would recommend that you use this in combination with Spybot Search and Destroy which again is free.
I find that in general many of the paid Internet Security suites such as Norton and Mcafee use a lot of system resources and therefore can significantly slow your laptop down.
The new latest version of AVG includes an add in for your web browser that warns you if you attempt to visit a website that is likely to infect your computer. This can be quite useful to prevent you getting viruses in the first place. AVG is updated very regularly so that is recognises the latest viruses.
Despite it being free in my experience it has been easily as effective, if not more so than the major paid Anti-Virus products.
Nod 32 is really good. Very lightweight.

Hello,
If you are looking for a free anti virus service, I fell that AVG 8.5 version could be an excellent choice. Of course it's a trial of the program, but in my opinion it works very well.
You mentioned something about an avast code? I think you mean a license key that could upgrade avast! trial version to a better version. But you can only obtain this code by buying the software. Sorry if I misunderstood you.

You have to go to the Avast website. Then fill in your name, and e-mail and they will send you a registration code! Avast is the best anti virus. Do not use AVG.
