I’m tired of paying for virus software! Whats the point it doesnt even work! McAfee. Trash. Norton. Garbage. Microsoft. A joke. I’m so mad because I’m tired of buying computers and laptops. I’m getting a Mac but until then which is the best to use? A friend told me get Avira. What is that? Is it all I need? Just tell me something. Thanks.

In response to the emergence of spyware, a small industry has sprung up dealing in anti-spyware software. Running anti-spyware software has become a widely recognized element of computer security practices for computers, especially those running Microsoft Windows. A number of jurisdictions have passed anti-spyware laws, which usually target any software that is surreptitiously installed to control a user’s computer. The US Federal Trade Commission has placed on the Internet a page of advice to consumers about how to lower the risk of spyware infection,
including a list of "do’s" and "don’ts."

Not funny I am having the same problem with my husband’s computer. You see approx. a year ago both of our laptops malfunctioned within two weeks of each other. He bought a new laptop, and I bought a Macbook. Fast-forward to today, his laptop is acting FUNNY, and my Macbook works perfectly. I am currently trying to convince him to take the plunge to Mac, but he is in the military (PC based.)
I advise purchase mac, I love mine. I did have to adapt to the differences, but you can partition a mac windows. I did not partition mine, but bought the office programs (works the same with minor changes.) My Mac in the big-picture cost less than my husband’s new PC. Mac comes with an assortment of applications ready for use, (not promotional) and you don’t need virus protection. You do need a spyware app, but mac has one free for download. Most people are sticker shocked at the price of a basic Mac; I was also. It really depends what you use your computer for. I also like the fact that I can find help for any Mac problems easily on-line. I usually just type in a question in the search engine and Mac responses appear. I have not had a Mac question that I couldn’t find an answer to.
Like you, I plan on using an additional free anti-virus as my husband already has McAfee (trash!!!)
Good luck!!
